Since the beginning of February, you may have heard our famous little corner of the world became slightly more complicated to access.

What Happened?

Milford Sound and the wider Fiordland and Southland region experienced a significant weather event on the 3rd February.  Since then, because of significant damage, the Milford Road opened but under restricted conditions.

The Milford Road is now open to all drivers to access Milford Sound with no restrictions in place.  You will come across some roadworks which may require you to stop and wait to pass, but nothing too significant.  We would recommend you leave slightly earlier to accommodate any wait times.

Road access, as per normal, is subject to weather and road conditions. To check if the Milford Road is open today click here
